A Thank You To The Erotic Heritage Museum

I began my relationship with The Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas way back in 2015 when I interviewed the Museum’s director, Dr. Victoria Hartmann, for a column I was writing called SEX FILES. The good doctor and I kept in touch from our first meeting; then, the museum placed an ad in which they were looking for a blog writer. Hoping I wasn’t double-dipping (or you know that other phrase where you do doody where you eat?) I inquired of Dr. V (as she had affectionately become known to me by them) if I might be considered for the job, and lo and behold, I began writing for the museum for a bit.

Then, from there, I’d get into being their PR liaison, a job I am proud to say I perform to this day (yes, it pays to cultivate relationships as much as never to burn a bridge). But even better than this job, I became and remain friends with the wonderful Dr. Victoria, and a better person you are not likely to meet; if I begin speaking about how truly nifty and keen, she is, I will just start gushing. Let’s just say Victoria Hartmann is one of the best people I have met on this wacky journey of a writing life that I have been on professionally for the past twenty-plus years.

During this time of me courting/working and loving the museum, I placed two books in their lobby, where they sell all kinds of ephemera, cool tee’s, posters, and yes, books. They also hold readings, meet-and-greets, and other super cool get-togethers in the big open space. The museum itself encompasses two floors and contains as many permanent exhibits as ones that come in to be featured for a finite amount of time. The second floor is laid out with a startlingly chock-full gallery of paintings, sketches, watercolors, porcelain figurines, sculptures, and carved wood objects. Really, it’s like no other place on the planet when it comes to sex-positivity, education and the exploration of that which we desire.

I am proud to say through a new contact I just met at the EHM (I did not ask to use her name here, so I shan’t, but even from the little contact I have had with her, she has been so wonderful to me, and I thank her so very much) I have just placed my Writing Dirty Words: The not-so-sexy hustle of making a living writing-and the occasional crack of the whip book in their lobby (and if you look a little closer at the pic here, under my dirty words book is one of the other books I still have at the EHM, a book I put out a few years ago called “Dating While Intexticating”…which I feel truly needs an update!).

So, here I am again proudly boasting that another book of mine is in the lobby store section of the Erotic Heritage Museum.

So, run over to 3275 S. Sammy Davis Junior Drive (a block off the strip) and buy a copy of my latest, and then buy a ticket and take a long walk through all that the Erotic Heritage Museum has on offer.

Thank you EHM!
