Yes, I’ll admit it; I am so jealous of Chris. The guy is just THAT good of a writer, and he delves deep into a field I so love but can’t get my head around…futurism.
I’d venture to guess that M. Christian, my wild and wooly co-host on Licking Non-Vanilla, is about the best erotic futurist writer around. This is saying a lot since plenty of men and women are mining this concept, delivering super cool novels, comics, short stories, and articles about the intersection of technology and sex. Chris just saw this publication of his Tinder Follows Suit and Embraces Gender Diversity and Polyamory at The Future Of Sex website, and it explores the influence of a surely modern-day program (Tinder) with an equal here-and-now concern (Gender Diversity/Polyamory).
As I say, one won’t get a writer more in the know than my buddy M. Christian. This is big-brain stuff, and my co-host good friend has one of those (he rents it out for parties on the weekend, but you have to book way in advance); more importantly, Chris knows how to make the heady concepts understandable in his writing.
No small feat, believe me.
Like Chris, I have been interested in futurism via science fiction writing all my life. Guys like Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, and Robert Heinlein have fueled and fed proud geeks like Chris and me for years. But for every Heinlein, there are writers who attempt to postulate and explain, entertain as well as instruct, build great big plots of future societies and yes, even sprinkle in some canoodling, but they fall short in delivering. Whether they literally get stuck in the machinery of their future worlds, riff a little too long on their predictions, or allow for too-long masturbatory moments where tech meets sex, lots of literature that tries to mix sex and science just doesn’t cut it for me.
Chris cuts it every time. Be it writing fiction about these concepts or articles like this new one in Future Of Sex.
Read, enjoy but mainly wonder about our world…and how somebody could write this well. 🙂
