Torture Garden, Los Angeles, 2022

So, I found out from Kink Queens Magazine (a magazine I have and continue to write for, see here) about an L.A. party the fantastically fetishy (or is that fetishy fantastic?) Torture Garden is having on Saturday, September 10th, at 9:30.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with TG’s icon fetish faithful gatherings, as their press states, Torture Garden, is “the world’s largest international fetish club,” and for this event, they have come “back in the City of Angels again following our several sold out landmark events that changed the fetish experience in Los Angeles.” This year’s LA TG event is being held at the city’s historic Globe Theatre, and joining the fans of this specific unique gathering will be “infamous performers from around the world, as well as international DJ’s, BDSM playspace/dungeon, multi-level entertainment, roaming sideshow performances, aerial, pole dancers and tantalizing entertainment.”

Now, more than most of these see-and-be scenes that I have seen, Torture Garden is very specific about the couture their attendees wear. Fetish attire of one type or another is mandatory, and this can include, leather, latex, “masked ball,” corsets, uniforms, “Venice carnival, Berlin Kabaret,” lingerie, and costume play…to name just some. And while guests wearing jeans will be turned away, those in black tie and masks won’t. This attention to sartorial details, what TG calls their “super strict dress code,” makes them unique and, quite frankly, I feel, has imbued Torture Garden with the longevity and reach they have worked hard for and presently enjoy.

Torture Garden was launched in London in 2002, by former Skin Two & House of Harlot manager Kaisu Paakkola, regarded as the “latex fashion off-shoot of the world’s most famous fetish club.” Unfortunately, Kaisu tragically died shortly after designing & producing the first collection and just before the fashion show launch at the Skin Two Rubber Ball. The supremely talented Florence Druart has been the label’s creative director since 2008, working hard to continue Kaisu’s vision, taking over the franchise as both owner & creative director in 2016. T.G. has grown to stage fashion shows in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Athens, Zagreb & Edinburgh, as well as at the biggest London events (it was through their London events that I first heard about them). Most recently, TG connected with the House of SXN, which they claim is the most unique fashion house they have come across in their wide-reaching international travels, adding their aesthetic of the TG experience.

Go here for tickets to TGLA and make sure to get that latex shined up to hopefully meet some kinky queens, or even some kings.
